This was an illustration I created that appeared as a panel in the Red Star comic book. The helicopter just exited a transfter gate (which is basically a Red Star version of a jump gate, except they don't go into space). You can see the sky from the location is just came from inside the gate, and the local sky outside the gate. Anyway, the helicopter was modeled in 3D Max and textured with Photoshop textures, then I composited the render with some retouched photos & Photoshop effects.

P.S. I left that pole and wires in the photo on purpose, as it's supposed to have just arrived from an industrial location.
